SyncWalk Digital Composition Interface Wearable electronics and software, 2007

This project extends my SyncWalk project into a wearable interface for live recording and composition of audio.
I designed this because I am always coming up with difficult-to-capture musical ideas while walking, and I wanted a way to capture both the ideas and the space I was in when the ideas occurred. This "digital" interface uses easy finger movements detected by gloves to manipulate the arrangement and properties of different audio tracks.
In the video above you can see the preliminary right-hand mapping: each finger triggers a sample or loop, and multiple connections can be made simultaneously by joining fingers.
The full interface will have nine more patch areas and allow for much more dexterity by using a thinner fabric with conductive tips.
